Our Music Development Plan

Our Music Development Plan consists in a series of assisted activities that will develop your child’s ability to perceive, reproduce and tune melodies in addition to develop rhythmic and notation skills in a relaxed and entertaining way. Parents -or anybody assisting the child, like helpers and teachers- will be supported by videos that will display the following features:

In our method, repetition is crucial

These exercises will help your child to trace a link between the note’s position on the scale and its sound. Thus, your child will grow in confidence and will learn to reproduce simple melodies as they hear them. Our method supports the development of ‘relative pitch’  ( the ability to identify musical note by comparing it to a reference note), in some cases children will develop perfect pitch (the ability to recognize the pitch of a note without any reference). All our exercises aim to immerse children into a ‘musical experience’, developing their natural musical abilities and helping to nurture their sense of pulse and rhythm. With a frequent practice, children will feel a growing need to synchronise with the music in the exercise.

We suggest every lesson to be repeated throughout several days (preferably once a day) until the child feels comfortable and acquire precision.

This set of exercises aims to develop the ability to reproduce -on a keyboard or with the voice- a melody as heard, developing the musical ear even before the child start to learn an instrument. These exercises can either be done singing or, when the child is mature enough, on a keyboard. The exercises start from a very simple level and they eventually become more complicated, only working on the diatonic C major scale.

Sight Singing (Level 3 Advanced for children 6+)
This is a demanding course that trains children and adults to sing a melody from a music sheet, in standard notation. Sight singers are especially welcome in choirs and schools’ music groups. It is highly recommended that this course is taken on completion of the Level 2 courses.

How does our programme work?

Spend five minutes per day doing some of our exercises and give your children a boost in their music ability. This is a music training plan for children from 2 to 9 years old, although it can be also started before and after that age depending on the intellectual and physical maturity of the child. As a visitor you have free access to the first lesson of every course. Most courses consist of 16 lessons. After enrolling  you will have full access to the plans or course you have enrolled to. If your child is still not confident when practicing a specific lesson don\'t feel tempted to move on. If you do move on anyway, make sure you still practice the previous lessons in addition the new one. Don’t worry if you feel that you have been for too long on the same lesson. Every child has her own pace but relax, this programme works with every child in most of the cases.
